About

Hello! I am the webmaster of Stephensworld, otherwise known as S.P. Hurlsmith, or Stephen for short. That is of course not my real name, but a pseudonym I use online to hide my real identity. I am known online by many other names, but such is the internet, everybody has a pseudonym.

I like to do a lot of things as hobbies. Drawing, writing stories, painting, and lastly of course, my hobby in computer programming and tinkering with my computer in general. I like to play videogames, but my favourite videogame is DRIVER: San Francisco. It was the first game I ever played, and I have completed the campaign of the game 25 times now.

I do lots of creative projects over a long series of time. I think all of those projects come together even when they haven't been created. And I credit this recycling of creative ideas in my projects to my frequency of writing down my ideas somewhere accessible and reading through it again. It's all a happy cycle of ideas where one gets integrated into the other in a way.

My history with Stephensworld.

I started Stephensworld around 3 years ago, mostly for fun. The website itself was predated by another personal website of mine under a different name, but those sites were lost to the test of time. I mainly started the site as a sort of record, and I'd post there every once in a while.

However, during those early times, Stephensworld was a sort of site that I felt wasn't giving me what I wanted, so I rebranded the site under the same name, a different layout, and more of a focus on my projects, rather than just a fun playground or sandbox of some kind. After that it also went through another rebrand with better site layout and the such, before it once again rebranded now. The site will go through many different versions, I'm sure, but for now I'm comfortable with this version.

Why exactly change out all that personalization and fun to start over anew? It's really a matter of me transitioning my personal website into something more accountable of some kind. I'd like to showcase my projects and my efforts in a way that passes between personal and project oriented.

How's it like being the webmaster of Stephensworld?

Nobody in the history of the world ever asked me this question, but maybe somebody might me asking that specific question. Administering this site is about the same experience as any other site. It's a long trudge if you're writing everything manually. It takes a lot of time to make pages and also a lot of time to keep the whole of the website continous and up to date.

The mascots of Stephensworld

There are some characters that you may see on the site that are sort of endorsed by me. This also brings one to think about mascots and iconography in this site. I like mascots, and I like when something relatively serious has some lighthearted element to it, which is why I put some characters of mine in the role of a mascot for Stephensworld.

On that topic, you may be confused as to why I never refer to one character as the solid mascot of the site. That's mostly because I have a lot of characters or caricatures that I like seeing in the location of mascot for this site, and a majority of my characters that you see here haven't been made for the exact purpose of being the site mascot. They all actually originate from some kind of creative project I worked on before, that I still have a sort of soft spot for. Yup, I love all my OCs, got a problem? Hehe.
